How common is it for Deloitte partners to check the LinkedIn of applicants

Hi everyone,

Just out of curiosity, how common is it for deloitte partners to check the Linkedin profile of an applicant ? I got rejected quickly at screening, but saw that a partner at Deloitte checked my profile in the same week. I have a somewhat of an unusual background for consulting (medical and cs student), and my LinkedIn was not perfectly optimized.

Thank you

Hi there,

It’s relatively common for Deloitte partners and recruiters to review applicants’ LinkedIn profiles to gain a comprehensive understanding of their backgrounds. If your CV didn’t fully convey your unique combination of medical and computer science expertise, they might have turned to LinkedIn for additional insights. To ensure your profile effectively supports your applications, consider the following optimization tips:
    •    Professional Photo: A clear, professional headshot can increase profile views and response rates.
    •    Detailed Experience: Clearly outline your educational background, relevant projects, and work experience to showcase your unique qualifications in a reverse chronological order.
    •    Skills and Endorsements: Highlight key skills pertinent to consulting and seek endorsements to validate your expertise.
    •    Languages: List any languages you are fluent in, as multilingualism is valuable in consulting roles.

By optimizing your LinkedIn profile, you enhance your visibility and attractiveness to recruiters and partners, so it's always worth the effort!

Let me know if I could help you further - happy to offer more detailed tips/ advice.

Best,
Evelina

Hi,

Yes, it is common for partners at Deloitte (and other professional services firms) to review the LinkedIn profiles of applicants during the hiring process. While LinkedIn is typically not the primary source of information, it provides them with additional insights on:

  1. Verification: They may verify details provided on your resume or application. For example, they might check your work history, educational background, or specific skills listed on your profile.
  2. Profile Completeness: A well-organized LinkedIn profile can give candidates an advantage, showing they have taken care to present themselves professionally. A complete profile with clear job descriptions and achievements can leave a positive impression.
  3. Networking and Recommendations: LinkedIn allows candidates to showcase recommendations from colleagues or clients, which can strengthen your application. Networking and mutual connections could also come into play, with partners seeing how you connect with people in the industry.

It’s important to keep your LinkedIn profile professional, up-to-date, and reflective of the information on your CV.

Let me know if you need further guidance.

Hey!

It's not very common for Deloitte partners to personally check LinkedIn profiles during the screening process, as this is usually handled by recruiters or junior team members. However, it can happen, especially if your background is unique and stands out in some way. Partners might check profiles out of curiosity, if they were involved in the hiring decision, or if your application was flagged for potential fit. A LinkedIn visit doesn’t necessarily indicate a rejection reason, but optimizing your profile can always help for future applications. Let me know if you need any tips! 😊
