Global recruitment and applications

I was told that I can only do Solve/apply for a role at McKinsey once every year. That is because they globally recruit so I can't apply in one country and then another one if I don't make it. Their recruitment back end is combined.

Is that the same for other firms? I heard it could be different (ie, other firms may only have national rather than international tracking systems). I have working rights in different regions.

Hi,

For MBB, the recruiting system is global and the online test (for a first round if applicable) can only be done once a year; as you can only apply after the 1 year ban period.

Le me know if you have further questions.

Hey, could you please elaborate on what you mean by the 'recruitment system is global'? Does it mean that anyone studying in France can apply for an internship in the Middle East or anywhere else?

Hi, Yes, you can apply in every office. But it also means when you got rejected in 1 office, you can't apply in another office the same year. Mattijs

You CAN make it! | xMckinsey | 1.5h session | +200 sessions |Free 20-Minute Call

Hello there,

The rule is waiting for a year, but I have had colleagues that applied after six months and got back to the process. So try that out, worst thing that can happen is they saying “no”.

Best,

Mari

Hi,

I agree with Mariana, I've also had friends who did the SOLVE test and didn't pass, but were able to apply again after 6months.

It really depends on your office, the role you applied for e.g. was it an internship or full time-role.

I'd highly suggest reaching out to your recruiting team:)

Good luck!

Yes, that applies for MBBs. It also applies to most Tier 2 firms.

[Please note that Solve is valid for 6 months. But unless you are doing a degree and applying to an internship (or applying to full time after having applied to internships) you will still have to wait 12 months to reapply]

Where it doesn't usually apply is to Big4. Usually they have national recruiting... you may be able to apply to multiple countries.

No, it's not the same for all firms. Some have their recruiting systems integrated at regional level, others not at all.

My advice always is to go with a broad application strategy, targeting multiple firms - think about it as a funnel where you try to optimise the conversion rate at each step, so that by the end of it you end up with multiple offers.

Hi there,

Yes, it's usually the same for all firms!
