Hi guys, I will be attending Deloitte's Virtual Assessment Day this week. Does anyone have any tips on how to get through it the best? Perhaps you have recently done the Assessment Day yourself? What kind of cases could I expect here?
Virtual Assessment Day Deloitte
Hi there,
Congrats on being invited to this!
You can expect the typical assessment centre experience, only adjusted to an online environment.
Usually, you can come across the following elements (some may differ based on firm)
- Meet and greet. You're given the chance to introduce yourself to each other and then to the recruiting team. Prepare a short intro pitch for yourself so you don't stumble on the moment.
- Firm presentation. You get an overview of how the firm works and what to expect from your role as a consultant. It's a great chance to learn about the firm and to ask questions.
- Joint case done as a team. This is the longest part, requiring you to solve a case together in a group of four or so, agree on the conclusions, ask for data, create a presentation and then present to the recruitment team. The case can be from any industry or functional area. What they want to test are your skills and your ability to communicate with others, not your knowledge of what particular industry.
- Q&A. This was a short Q&A at the end if you have any other questions about the firm or the recruitment process.
Some firms also still do role-plays. They hire actual actors to play demanding or angry clients. You are meant to interact with them, present something, convince them or obtain additional information.
Best,
Cristian
Hi there,
I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:
- To my knowledge, the Virtual Assessment Day with Deloitte looks slightly different from what has been outlined. It will be a series of both case study and personal fit interviews, along with a company presentation at the beginning.
- Regarding the case studies, Deloitte tends to use written case studies, which means that you will have some preparation time to solve the case study, prepare the presentation (normally without any additional material), and then go through the different questions together with the interviewer. You may find one of those case studies here.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming Deloitte interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,
Hagen
Hey,
The day will typically have following (all if not some) of the below:
- Welcome and intros
- Online tests: such as numerical and verbal reasoning tests
- Group exercise: Typically a group case
- Individual Case study : classic candidate driven case
- Partner interview: If you clear all the above, a final Partner interview will be conducted either on the day or a separate day. If you get to this, you most likely have the job :)
All the best!
Hi there,
Cristian gave a great answer here!
In terms of preparing, make sure you've researched the company + role. Make sure you're ready to “pitch” yourself. And, finally, make sure you know how to case and solve cases!
Please don't expect a type of case. Learn how to solve any case type.
