I'm having the solve Mckinsey test the 5th january 2025 (spain, Madrid). Is it possible that they replace the ecosystem for the ocean clean up game?

I have prepared for the Ecosystem Game and the Redrock Study, however, I’ve only read about the Ocean Cleanup game and am unsure if I’d know how to approach it in practice.

I’m concerned they might officially introduce it as part of the assessment starting in the New Year.

What do you think?

Hey there,

I don't think anyone here can tell you with certainty or confidence if whether or not they will introduce a new game in McKinsey's Solve. At some stage, McKinsey will change things up, but whether or not it will be with you is something that will be known my McKinsey and the Solve platform operators

My recommendation is you reach out to recruiting to clarify this and ask them how to prepare

Hi there,

Q: Is it possible that they replace the ecosystem for the ocean clean up game?

At the moment, they are using the ocean clean up / ocean treatment game as an additional game in some cases, together with the Ecosystem and Redrock ones. It is possible that they will change this in the future, as they have already made modifications to the game in the past.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the invitation from McKinsey!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, McKinsey seems to have used the Ocean Treatment game only occasionally, in addition to the Ecosystem Management and Redrock Study games that always seem to be part of the McKinsey Solve pre-interview assessment. No one knows for sure if and when the situation will change.
  • Moreover, and contrary to what other coaches have said, the recruiting department will most likely not share details about the content of the McKinsey Solve pre-interview assessment and how to prepare for it.
  • Lastly, if you want to know the most efficient way to approach the Ocean Treatment game, I'd be more than happy to help you.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming McKinsey pre-interview assessment and/or interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen
