Solve, McKinsey's Game

Hello everyone,

I had to do the: Solve, McKinsey's Game. Does someone know how can I practice for this test the best way? any information about this test will be great, I haven't done that before.

Thank you all.

Hi there,

Q: Does someone know how can I practice for this test the best way? any information about this test will be great

The current Solve game includes up to three games:

  • Ecosystem Game: This game has been present from the very beginning and is still included today. In this game, you have to create a sustainable chain by selecting 8 species from a total of 40 possible options.
  • Redrock Study: This game was introduced in a testing phase in 2022 and was made available to all candidates in 2023, replacing the previous second game (Plant Defense). In this game, you need to collect information, answer quantitative questions and complete a report based on the provided information.
  • Ocean Treatment: This game was introduced in 2024 and is only included in some tests. In this game, you have to select microbes to cleanse a section of the ocean.

If you would like to check the latest version of the game, you can have a look at the guide I created at the link below, which includes all three current games (plus a review of all 7 games ever used, in case you want to review them):

Good luck!

Hey there!
For the McKinsey SOLVE game, here’s a general overview of what to expect and how to prepare from my side:

The game has two parts, each lasting about 35 minutes.

  1. Part 1 involves building a stable ecosystem using different species like plants and fish. The key is to understand their food chain relationships and calorie needs. The goal is to create a balanced environment where all species survive.
  2. Part 2 is more analytical, with two sections. One is a case study where you interpret tables and graphs to answer questions. The other involves math-based problems, often requiring quick percentage calculations and analysis.

To prepare, focus on data interpretation, basic math skills (especially percentages), and time management. Familiarizing yourself with basic ecosystems and practicing quick calculations can help you feel more confident under the time pressure. I also recommend to check out YouTube - there are great videos for free! :)

Good Luck! Alessa :)

IF you are a gamer, this would be a cake walk.

The closest game types that simulate the test are 1) tower defence games 2) resource management/city builders
