Are MBB firms and T2 Firms hiring in Dubai/Riyadh at the moment?

As I understand, due to massive budget cuts from the government of KSA, much of the hiring across firms in the Middle East has been frozen. Is this true? If so, when are things going to pick up?

Hi there!

As a former local McKinsey consultant based in the Middle East. I can tell you that consulting firms are still hiring across the board, however, due to the current global economic constraints hiring has been slowing down in the region.

What this means is that there are still spots available, but they will be more selective and competitive as fewer full time positions are available.

Feel free to reach out to me if you’re interested in learning more about  consulting in the Middle East 😊

Yes firms are hiring.

But not as voraciously right now - the pace will pick-up in a few months from now.

Selections are happening, interviews are happening, but the results are just a lot more picky than in past years - also because the application to selection ratio is much sharper now.

The reasons for the slowdown are less due to the KSA govt. budget cuts and more due to the dynamics of managing human resources - in my opinion.

Hi there,

Yes, I have candidates for McKinsey Dubai and Riuadh in the pipeline at the moment. They are hiring yet the process is a bit slower than usual.

BCG and Bain hiring is happening yet also at a much slower pace. For Tier-2, I am not fully certain but I believe a small number of applicants is still being interviewed based on specific profiles.

Demand for Middle East offices is currently higher than the supply of jobs.

All the best,

Florian

Hello. I applied to Mckinsey Dubai office after getting confirmation from the recruiter about hiring. The issue is it has been almost 10 days and I did not get the solve game link. Is it usual or the hiring process is generally slow? Though they confirmed that my application is under review. I am confused at this point in time. Any advice would be appreciate able.

Nope, not true.

I have candidates currently preparing for upcoming interviews in ME.

My recommendation would be to reach out to the recruiter from your target office and firm and discuss with them directly if they are actively recruiting for your target role.

Recruiting is still active. Slow, but active. To be honest, to have a complete stop within MBB would be quite dramatic - there's a minimum number of entry-level consultants they need to hire - otherwise in 2-5 years they won't have enough trained consultants to deliver projects.

Hi there,

Consulting firms, including MBB and Tier 2, are still hiring in Dubai and Riyadh, but the pace has slowed due to global economic pressures and regional budget constraints. Having spent 8+ years at Bain in the Middle East, I can tell you that the region remains a key growth market, and while hiring is more selective right now, opportunities are still available. Typically, hiring picks up as client demand stabilizes, so it’s worth staying prepared. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss consulting opportunities in the region or need advice on navigating the process!

You're right in observing that budget cuts and financial constraints in various sectors, including the government of KSA, have led to a slowdown in hiring across many firms in the Middle East. The region has faced economic challenges due to fluctuating oil prices and other factors, impacting hiring processes.

However, things may start to pick up as governments and firms adapt to the new economic environment, possibly focusing on diversification, technology, and infrastructure projects. It's difficult to predict a specific timeline, but with ongoing reforms and the push for economic growth, we could see a gradual recovery in the coming months or years. Keep an eye on policy changes for more clarity.

For a deeper understanding of economic recovery in the region, an Rewards Program Overview could offer additional insights.
