Oliver Wyman Internship Interview

Hi everyone,

I'm currently preparing for an internship interview with Oliver Wyman in the DACH region and would love to hear from anyone who has gone through the process. Specifically, I’m curious about a few things:

  1. How many interview rounds are typically involved in the internship recruitment process?
  2. What is the style of behavioral questions asked during the interview?
  3. Are there any key tips or things to expect based on past experiences?

Would greatly appreciate any insights or personal experiences! Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Hi there,

Some of my friends went through the Oliver Wyman internship interview process in the DACH region;
    1.    Number of Rounds – Typically, there are two rounds, each consisting of one or two interviews. The first round usually includes a mix of behavioral and case interviews, while the final round may involve more senior interviewers and a greater emphasis on fit.
    2.    Behavioral Questions – Expect classic fit questions like “Why Oliver Wyman?” and “Why consulting?” along with experience-based questions (e.g., “Tell me about a time you worked in a team under pressure”). They’re looking for structured answers with clear impact, so using frameworks like STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) can help.
    3.    Key Tips
    •    Case interviews are candidate-led, so practice structuring your approach and driving the discussion.
    •    Mental math and market sizing often come up, so being quick with numbers is a plus.
    •    Oliver Wyman values personality and communication, so be engaging and show enthusiasm.

If you have any specific questions or need help prepping, happy to help!

Best,

Evelina

Hi,

1) 2-3 interviews, covering behavioral questions and cases

2) Like a typical MBB interview (e.g., present yourself, why OW/this office, leadership, failure example...)

3) Prepare like for a MBB interview (behavioral and cases).

Feel free to reach out if you would like to have more tips;

Had a coachee for OW (but North America).

Style of fit interview questions were the same as MBB - i.e based on past experiences and not based on hypotheticals.

Key tips - no different from general consulting case interview prep which you can find a ton of answers already on previous threads

Hi there,

1. There is usually one test and one interview round with 2-3 interviews. All interviews cover case and fit

2. Fairly standard - questions about your resume/background, motiviation, experiences, relevant skills (e.g., leadership)

3. Nothing different than most other consulting firms.

All the best,

Florian

Hey there 🙂, Oliver Wyman internship interviews in the DACH region usually consist of two to three rounds, starting with a screening call or online assessment, followed by one or two rounds that blend case and behavioral questions. The behavioral part tends to focus on your experiences with teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, so having a few STAR stories ready can be really helpful, and even though the cases might be a bit lighter than full-time interviews, it's important to be structured and genuine. Just relax, be yourself, and let your enthusiasm shine through—I'm sure you'll do great! Best, Alessa 😇
