Consulting/Kearney DACH Region - Recruiting Process Timeline and Best Time to Apply?

Hi everyone,

I'm seeking information about Kearney's recruiting process for internships in the DACH region (if that makes any difference). Specifically, I would like to know:

  1. How does the recruiting process for interns differ from that of general consulting roles at Kearney in this region?
  2. What is the typical duration from application submission to the first interview?
  3. When is the best time to apply for a summer internship (starting July) to maximize my chances?

If you don't know the information for Kearney, I would also appreciate answers to questions 2 and 3 for comparable consulting firms!

Hi David,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your questions:

  • First of all, when you apply for an internship with Kearney, you will typically have only one interview round. However, the recruiter will inform you in detail when the time comes.
  • Moreover, of course, the time it takes to get to the interview round depends on both you and the firm. If you're asking because you need time to prepare, I would advise you to start preparing earlier so that you're about 70-80% ready when you apply.
  • Lastly, and contrary to what other coaches have said, there is of course no better or worse time to apply, especially if you have a specific time frame in which you want to do the internship.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming Kearney interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

1. Usually 1 interview round instead of 2. Interviews and fit are the same.

2. Can be very quick from 1-2 weeks up to 1-2 months (you have some influence here)

3. I would apply early next year.

Cheers,

Florian

Expect only one interview round.

The time between application submission and the first interview is not fixed and can range from a few days to several weeks. You can learn more about how the recruiting process works internally here: MBB Hiring Hacks – Behind the Curtain Secrets.

The best time to apply? Yesterday :)

Best,

Alberto
