McKinsey Solve accommodation request

Hi there, I received my Solve invitation on Tuesday and requested my accommodation right away. However, I haven’t heard back from the recruiter listed in the communication, and my testing period ends tomorrow, Sunday 2nd.

My test was originally scheduled for tomorrow, but I rescheduled it to Monday at 4 PM, hoping to receive a response by then. I’m now worried that I won’t be able to take the test at all since the testing period technically ends tomorrow.

If I don’t take the test tomorrow, will I lose the opportunity to take it? Or will my rescheduled date still be valid? I want to make sure my accommodation is in place before I proceed.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

Hey there 🙂, since your testing period technically ends tomorrow (Sunday, 2nd) but you've already rescheduled it to Monday at 4 PM, your rescheduled date should still be valid. However, since you haven’t received confirmation about your accommodation request, I’d recommend taking the following steps ASAP:

1️⃣ Follow up via email with the recruiter again today—keep it short and polite, emphasizing the urgency.
2️⃣ Try calling the HR contact if a phone number is available—it’s often faster than waiting for an email response.
3️⃣ Check your McKinsey Solve portal (if applicable) to see if your new test date is confirmed.
4️⃣ If you don’t hear back by tonight, consider taking the test tomorrow to avoid missing the opportunity entirely.

Ideally, the recruiter should confirm your accommodation before you take it, but if you’re running out of time and don’t get a response, you may need to make a judgment call on whether to proceed without accommodations or risk missing the opportunity.

Hope you get a response soon! Let me know if you need more help. Best,
Alessa 😇

Hi there,

Q: If I don’t take the test tomorrow, will I lose the opportunity to take it? Or will my rescheduled date still be valid? I want to make sure my accommodation is in place before I proceed.

If you don’t receive a confirmation before the test slot, you cannot be sure the request will be accepted. The best option you have is to call HR on Monday morning, so that you can receive confirmation before the 4pm slot.

If you don’t manage to get a reply on time, personally I would take the test on Monday, to avoid any risk.

Good luck!

Hi there,

since you flagged this early enough, this should be fine. I would simply call their HR department on Monday and make sure that the extension did go through.

They will not kick you out of the process, this is a formality.

Best,
Sebastina

Hey there,

In short, your rescheduled date should be valid and this is something that recruiting can accommodate. However, you'd need to urgently align this with the recruiter by calling ASAP. If you don't get a response, I would go on the side of safety and take the test during the originally scheduled time

All the best

Hi there,

The only option to gain clarity is to call HR directly and clarify.

Fingers crossed!
