How do we decide which species eats first if there are two species with the same amount of calories provided?ย
McKinsey Ecosystem Imbellus order
Hi!
First of all congrats on getting the opportunity to try the online test!
The answer to your question is:
If there are two โtop preyโ species with the same Calories Provided, the eating species will eat from each of them an amount equal to 1/2 of its Calories Needed.
i have a great guide to the McKinsey game I can share, feel free to DM me for details.
Good luck in the online test, hopefully you'll get the chance to get to the case interviews.
Best,
Yuval
Hi there,
Q: How do we decide which species eats first if there are two species with the same amount of calories provided?ย
I assume your question refers to when we have โAโ and โBโ as species, they both provide the same calories and you would like to know which of the two will eat first.
In this case, โAโ and โBโ would eat at the same time their respective food sources.
If you want to learn more about the game, you can check out the course I created below, explaining each of the rules of the game as well:

Technically it should not matter. If you are playing the game correcting 2 species that together need less than the calories provided, then you are ok. If this isn't the case, then you're doing something wrong!
(If they share 2 prey, for example, then, again, it should not matter as they will just each the โleftoverโ calories of one prey before eating the other)
Hi there,
They would eat at the same time as there is no clear rule in the current version of the game that states otherwise.
All the best,
Florian
Hi there!
I see you received lots of answers already and I can only confirm them - the two species would be eating at the same time, so order is irrelevant here.ย

Hi there,
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:
- First of all, technically, it doesn't matter unless these two predators also share some food sources.
- Moreover, in case of doubt, please also have a look at the guide within the ecosystem game.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming McKinsey Solve and interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
