Just got rejected by McKinsey after final round of interview. I really want to fix the mistakes and re-apply. Any recommendations on way forward?

Hey there!Β

First of all, getting to the final stage is already a great feat :-)Β

From my experience, partner interviews will mostly focus on 1-2 areas that the first-round interviewers were not fully convinced of. So for example, if a candidate did not adequately answer the quant question, the partner would select a quant-heavy case study to test or validate the candidate's skill level.

I recommend you to do two things:

  • Reflect on the questions the partner has asked you to understand where you need to improve for the next application. Generally, you can apply after 1-1.5 years again, especially if something material has changed in your resume (e.g., you completed another degree, you collected valuable consulting experience, etc.)
  • Actively ask for feedback from your contact person in the recruiting team. They are present in the discussions and can give you some hints also.

Please feel free to DM me if you to understand how to work on your feedback.

Hope it helps & all the best!
