Finished Bain Final Round | Zero Behavioral Questions…

I just finished my second round interview for Bain Chicago’s ACI position. In both the first and second round I got zero behavioral questions. Both rounds had two interviews each, and 90% of the time was spent on the case (with the remaining 10% being introductions and questions at the end). I felt great about my performance in the 2nd round, but was unfortunately rejected.

I am surprised, though, that they did not ask any behavioral questions. Is this normal? Were they mainly interested in how well I could case and communicate in a business setting?

Additional background: I am a business major from a target with a strong GPA, and I made zero mathematical or ”business concept” mistakes in the first round (according to feedback from first-round interviewers).

Hi there!

For the FIT part, you can always expect anything and it depends on the interviewer style and creativity.

The goal is to test your personality's overall fit with the culture (not an arrogant consultant but someone who is humble, willing to learn and will be a great team member). This is not only tested through behavioral questions…

Interviews are quite competitive and sometimes each office has a limited number of seats for each school and/or for each cycle of interviews so dont feel like “you did something wrong”…You can also always ask for feedback for why you have been rejected to know what to work on (advisable)

Best of luck!

Was the final round interview in person or online? Also, do you have any tips for someone who will be interviewing in the first round soon?

Hi there,

This is why I always emphasize/train my candidates in the attitude of “expect anything”.

The natural instinct is to try to predict what will happen and prepare for that; but we truly never know!

I would say this certainly isn't normal, but I'm also equally not surprised! Hope you were ready for it :)

Hi!

I'm very sorry to hear about the rejection.

This situation sometimes happens but I don't believe it has much to do with your final result.

I'd ask for feedback on the final round if you haven't done so yet.

Best,

Anto
