Didn't indicate that a job is part-time on resume

Hi, I'm applying to consulting firms (including MBB) for entry-level roles and have now realised that the version of my resume I sent to some firms didn't mention that one of the jobs I worked last year was part-time. I've been feeling a bit worried about this and am wondering whether I should reach out to HR to let them know in case it becomes an issue during background checks, or if bothering them with something so small would hurt my chances. Have been spending a lot of time stressing about this even though it seems like a small thing, so would appreciate any advice.

Hey!

In my opinion: no need to reach out—consulting firms typically verify employment details through reference checks or documents, so they’ll see the nature of the role themselves. Reaching out could draw unnecessary attention to a minor issue. Focus on preparing for interviews and demonstrating your skills instead!

Good luck!

Hi there,

Is it ideal? No.

Is it a deal-breaker? Also no.

It's much more important to highlight your achievements and impact than the number of hours you have worked. Consulting firm are output-driven organizations, not input driven (quote the partner on my first McKinsey project). As long as your resume showcases that, you should be good to go!

Fingers crossed and all the best,

Florian

Hi there,

Please don’t stress over it. I’d suggest you focus more on preparing for the tests and interviews.

All the best,
