I'm 1 year out of college with work experience, when should I apply to MBB?

Hi,

I recently finished an 8-month internship from a top PE shop after graduating from university in the UK. I now want to transition into consulting. I have not been able to find information online regarding when to apply to MBB and other tier-2 firms since I'm not quite an experienced hire nor an undergraduate applicant. I assume its rolling admissions but was wondering if there is a preferred application window for applicants like me. I'm applying mainly in London. Would love to know more information!

Thanks everyone :)

Hi there,

I'd suggest 2 avenues to find out:

  1. Reach out directly to the office recruiters explaining your context, to find out hiring plans and timelines
  2. Use LinkedIn to contact recent joiners of the respective firms in your similar situation to get a sense of past hiring timelines and obtain potential connection with the recruiter

Feel free to reach out for specific cold messaging tips.

Hi there,

If you are shooting for rolling admissions, it's always a great idea to directly reach out to HR to clarify current demand, potential timelines, and suitability.

They can provide you with a timely and accurate advice.

All the best,

Florian

Hi,

Given you recency, you would be asked to apply for the entry level role and not an internship.

However given you have already graduated, you would not fall within the OCR path.

So best to either network and get a referral, or reach out to HR.

All the best!
