Hey! I’d suggest asking about anything you’re genuinely curious about — there are no strict rules! Just focus on questions where the answers will help you in the interview. Here are some examples:

  • Culture and Work Environment: You could ask about team dynamics, leadership styles, or work-life balance. For instance, "How would you describe the company culture and team collaboration?"
  • Personal Experiences: Ask about their journey, like "What has been the most rewarding part of your career so far at MBB?"
  • Industry Trends and Projects: Questions about recent trends or interesting projects can show you're interested in the firm’s work, while staying clear of confidential details.
  • Interview Tips: Ask for advice on interview prep, such as "What key skills are essential for success in the interview process?"
  • Referral: If you have a good connection with the person, you could also ask about a potential referral if the conversation goes well.

This approach will not only help you gather useful insights but also prepare you for the interview.

Best, Alessa :)

Hi there,

Ask about anything that you are genuinely curious to know about.

This could be

  • personal (the person's history and trajectory with the firm, experiences) - remember people like to talk about themselves.

  • professional (tricks for the application, strategies for the interviews, current trajectory of the firm, industry)

  • administrative (logistics of the interviews, training, etc)

Do not ask questions that sound smart just for the sake of it. The latter is neither authentic nor will it help you get more information about the role/firm to decide where you want to work in the future (saying this because it happens a lot).

Also, make sure to prepare yourself properly with

  • a concise pitch and 3-4 key stations on the resume

  • answers for the questions on your motivation and why firm X

All the best,

Florian

Cheers,

Florian
