Hi everyone. I recently applied to McKinsey Cairo office and I just received their invitation for Solve. I heavily practiced for the PST, the online case, but it appears that this is something entirely different. It looks like a problem solving game. I haven’t explored it enough as I had no sufficient knowledge it even existed. I have a couple of questions if someone could help.
1. Is this test invitation automated? It took less than 2 days from submission to get the test invitation. It’s hard to think they’ve had time to assess my CV, so I’m leaning to think it’s an automated invite. But let me know if you have any insight.
2. Any good practice sites? Again I found plenty of material to practice for the PST but so far I haven’t had the chance to practice for this one. I want to know as perfect as I could be so any practice recommendations will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
McKinsey Solve game
Hi there,
1. McKinsey has been using the Solve Game since November 2019 when they started it in the London office and then rolled it out globally over the next couple of months. The PST has not been part of the recruiting anymore since 2020!
The invite is not fully automated - your resume is still taken into account. Not everyone who applies receives the link to the game.
2. There are plenty of materials out there, from guides to practice tests to full test simulations. I created a guide myself already at the end of 2019 and currently publish the 21st version of it (since there have been quite a few changes and the addition of tests etc). There are also guides here on PL. Google a bit and you shall find tons of info (also here in the forum).
All the best,
Florian
1. It is not automated. A consultant can review 1000 CVs in a single day…
2. You can easily google materials and also find alternatives here at Preplounge.
