McKinsey rejection or not, post Solve?

Can someone clarify what this exactly means? I believe to have a strong profile and performed well on the Solve test.

It doesn't look like the typical rejection email??

Hi there,

Unfortunately, this is a typical rejection email.

Hiring in the Middle East is extremely slow at the moment and many strong candidates are rejected (based on profile and Solve result).

I'd try with other firms as well as different regions to spread your chances. You should be able to re-apply to McKinsey soon if you can add some interesting experiences to your resume.

All the best,

Florian

Hi Florian, Just an update - they reached out again and said the following: Hope you are well. Your application is on hold and we are aware of your interest and online assessment scores due to evolving business needs. We will get in touch with you as soon as we have a clarity for next year.

Hi there,

This sounds like a typical rejection email, althought they might come back to you. However, I would not wait if that might happen. There are still many other reputable consulting companies out there where you can apply and find great opportunities. Keep in mind that, in general, consulting firms are moving slowly at the moment due to the current market conditions.

All the best,
Kairavee

Hi there,

you need to table McK and keep recruiting with other firms. It is also unlikely that they will actually get back to you proactively, given how many applications they get on a monthly basis. So you have to treat this as a rejection unfortunately which mean that this pathway is closed (for now).

Go broad with your applications to increase the odds of receiving an offer. You can always try again at McK at a later point in time.

Hi there,

First of all, I am sorry to hear about the rejection from McKinsey!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • This seems to be the standard phrasing of their rejection email.

You can find more on this topic here: How to deal with a rejection from a consulting company.
