McKinsey Recruitment Process

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the process of applying for a Analyst position at McKinsey, and I've noticed that the recruitment timeline has been quite long. Here's a breakdown of my experience so far:

  • 1-2 months between CV submission and receiving the Solve Game invitation.
  • 2-3 months between the Solve Game invitation and the phone screen interview.
  • 1 month between the phone screen interview and the initial round interview.
  • Currently waiting for the result announcement from the initial round for 1 month to see if I will progress to the final round.

Is it typical for the recruitment process at McKinsey to take this long? Additionally, does the length of time between these steps have any correlation with the outcome? I ask because a friend of mine received a rejection within two weeks of submitting their CV.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hi there,

Unfortunately, at the moment this is not uncommon as the economic outlook is rather unstable and all firms have slowed down recruiting to keep flexibility:

  • Have candidates in the pipeline if the market and demand pick up
  • Not committing to anything until visibility improves

The fact that you have made it this far is already a good sign. If you friend received a rejection, it just shows that certain resumes/profiles are less desired at the moment.

All the best,

Florian

100% agree with Florian - with increased uncertainty over client needs, firms are delaying their recruitment timelines so as to not over hire like they did in 2022.
