Does Mckinsey ask for a resume walkthrough/ specific questions about your resume in addition to the pei questions on their website?
Mckinsey PEI
Hi there,
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:
- First of all, for entry-level positions, it is rather rare that anything other than the specific PEI situation will be discussed.
- Moreover, however, for more senior positions, you should expect interviewers to ask other questions in addition to the PEI situation, such as walking them through your resume.
You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,
Hagen
Hi there,
- For BAs and ASCs it can happen sometimes, however, these would just be ice-breaker questions and don't really influence your evaluation (given the weight of the case and the PEI stories).
- Chances are higher in the second round and during partner interviews
- If you are hired for more senior positions (EM and above), you should expect more traditional fit and behavioral questions.
In any case, it never hurts to have a strong pitch ready (introduce yourself, guide me through your resume) as well as strong answers for
- Why consulting / Why career change
- Why McKinsey / Why company change
- What value can you bring to us / practice X
Cheers,
Florian
Might happen or not but this is just an icebreaker. McKinsey interviewer will not assess your CV, this is the recruiter's job. If you are already doing an interview, your CV fits on what McKinsey is looking for.
Hey there,
This may be asked during the introductions or ice-breaker part of the interview, but it will generally not be evaluative as the PEI is there to assess fit.
However, even in the intro and ice-breaker sections, your still want your answers to speak positively in your favour!
All the best
