McKinsey Junior Associate progression

Hey all!

Recently accepted an offer for a Junior Associate position at McKinsey in London but wondering about progression from Junior Associate onwards.

Is the progression from Jr Asc → Asc → Sr Asc → EM? If so how long does this take between each progression?

I was under the impression it was 1.5 yrs in Associate position then onwards to EM so does that mean I should expect a promotion every 6 months?

HR have unfortunately not been very helpful…

Thanks!

Hi there,

Congrats on the offer!

There are certain bigger promotion windows (and some micro promotions along the way). Adding to that, every country or region has slightly different job titles and tracks.

AFAIK it would usually take around 3 years from Jr. ASC to EM. You can be faster if you are distinctive at every evaluation. Also, while you are a Sr. ASC, you would already work as a Jr. EM on projects as well - confusing, I know. :-))

Cheers,

Florian

The expectation is that it takes 1 year per rank.
