McKinsey Hiring Process

Hi all!

I received a call from the recruiter after my final round interview and he asked about my salary breakdown. Does this mean they are preparing an offer for me or just to compare candidates?

This is for an experienced hire position in a specialized industry/field role.

Thanks!

Ex-McKinsey EM | I help aspiring consultants from atypical background to nail case interviews

Hi there,

First congratulations on passing the final round.

This sounds like a general practice, even for experience-hired generalist consultants, salary breakdown is asked. It's not likely to reject a good candidate for being “too expensive”. But candidates may turn down the offer (it is possible that the industry pays more).

Hi there,

By the looks of it, yes. Since you are recruited for a specialized position, it's a bit different compared to the consulting track (where salaries are fixed).

Congrats :-)

Cheers,

Florian
