to answer how you can improve your performance, especially if you feel that it's been lagging, one would really need to understand what is causing things to go “really bad at the moment”.
More often than not it is a motivation issue. Your work could simply be not aligned anymore your objectives.
It can also be that the expectations from you have risen as your tenure increased, and you simply did not have the chance or know-how to improve.
But as others have said, I would really start by trying to understand what seems to be the issue. In order to do this:
- Do your own reflection of what is not going well in your performance
- Ask for feedback from people that have worked with you
- Piece the info together and spot the patterns, then prioritize on which ones you would like to work first (which ones could make the highest impact on your performance?)
- Translate that into a plan you can act on - it essentially needs to say what would you do differently, in which context, and how?
- Overall, continue to be honest with yourself and re-asses the situation.
There is of course a lot more specific advice to share, but that would depend so much on the source of the issue. I think it's the right step to reach out and ask for help, continue to do this and I'm sure you will be able to figure it out!

Without more details this is very hard to diagnose and help with.
A few pointers:
1. Work on it yourself
Might take a while and can be a painful process but engage in an honest reflection on what's going wrong and why. Find out what areas you need to improve and then devise a plan (daily, weekly, monthly) to get better with clear, actionable goals. Engage other people in your surroundings for feedback.
2. Get a book
This is an extension of the first point. I wrote a book called Consulting Career Secrets where I discuss how to perform well in top-tier jobs across all categories. You could use this to further your insights.
3. Engage a coach
Get a career coach and a truly objective outside position on your situation as well as a tailored progress plan to move on. Happy to help!

They can range from a weak consulting toolkit, poor case leadership, general panic, and all the way to harsh reviews.

- Talk to your manager / seniors
- Ask for honest, actionable feedback
- Work on their suggestions
