Follow up email after internship final round

Hi everyone,

I interviewed for my decision round (R2) with one of the MBB Middle East last Thursday for a summer internship and am curious about:
1. how long should I wait before sending up a follow up email about my decision?
2. Should I follow up with my interviewer on LinkedIn? (both my interviewers for R1 and R2  accepted my request)?
Thanks
Sasha

Hi there,

  1. In the current environment, I'd wait 2 weeks before following up. Most candidates' decisions are a bit slower and delayed at the moment, some even wait between interview rounds for weeks or months. The only exception would be if you have a cross-offer and need a quick decision.
  2. No, I would not follow up directly with them. The process is moving in the background and pestering the interviewers will not have a positive impact. Wait for either HR or an interviewer to reach out to you via official channels. If you reach out, also only reach out via official channels and email addresses that have communicated with you before.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome!

Cheers,

Florian

Hi,

at this stage you should only ever follow up with HR and not your interviewers. They would likely only refer you back to HR (plus get somewhat annoyed potentially).

I would at least wait until next week before following up. So far it has only been a few business days since your interview so you are well within the norm in terms of waiting time for feedback.

Hopefully there will be good news

Hi Sasha!

Hope the interview went well.

Don't follow-up just yet.

Wait for 10-14 days. In +90% of cases, they will get back by then. Otherwise, you can send them a quick, polite email asking for an update.

Don't follow-up over LinkedIn.

Some interviewers might find that invasive and an unwelcome interruption in their lives. HR or one of the interviewers will be officially assigned to get back to you.

Hope you get good news!
Best,
Cristian

Hi Sasha,

1) How long should I wait before sending up a follow-up email about my decision?

I would recommend waiting for a minimum of one week.

2) Should I follow up with my interviewer on LinkedIn? (both my interviewers for R1 and R2  accepted my request)?

I would recommend following up via email to HR.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hi there,

1. how long should I wait before sending up a follow up email about my decision?

A follow-up won't change anything. Please remember this. A follow-up is just for you and to calm your nerves.

But, if you need to send one, you can do so after about 2 weeks

2. Should I follow up with my interviewer on LinkedIn? (both my interviewers for R1 and R2  accepted my request)?

No. Please do not follow up with the interviewers. Period

Fingers crossed for you!

Hey,

Up to 2 weeks waiting time is OK. After that, if you don't get a reply, you can follow up with an HR. Don't bother the partners through Linkedin or any other channels.

Good luck!

One week is the minimum time needed to get back to you. I think Friday or maybe next Monday is ok to follow up.

Please do not ask anyone on LinkedIn about your interview outcome. Stick to official channels as it gives a wrong impression otherwise.

1. Decisions take 1-3 weeks, although in some cases up to a month. You should wait for 3 weeks before any follow up.

2. No, don't follow up with interviewers on LinkedIn. You should not be reaching out to them before the interview unless for any technical reasons.
