CV information (Internships & highschool)

• First of all, regarding your internships, it largely depends on their relevance to the roles you're applying for. If the internships are directly related to the consulting field or with a renowned potential client, consider keeping them.
• Moreover, concerning your high school program, it may be valuable if it adds a unique perspective or prestigious academic background that is recognized widely.

Hi, 

I had switched from T2 to MBB as well. I would suggest anything >5 years isn't really relevant anymore. 

I would remove both of those experiences and instead make sure that your current T2 experience is fleshed out really strongly.

I'd remove it only if you run out of space, esp. the internships as this could create an interesting profile for MBB if you have worked for a (potential) client even just for a short period.

As an example: When I started at McKinsey, I was immediately contacted by a partner who wanted to staff me on an engagement solely because of one of my internships. I joined as a Fellow/BA so not 100% comparable to your situation but it demonstrates the value of some experiences you might not consider.

Hi there,

Q: At what point of career is it okay to drop internships out of the CV? I am a T2 strategy manager applying to MBB.

I would do so when (i) you need additional space and (ii) the internship doesn’t provide any additional value compared to other points. I would use the same logic for the high school experience.

My rule of thumb for exclusion from your resume is 5 - 8 years old info, depending on the number of jobs or other activities within the timeframe. 

In my opinion, the internship or high school experience would not move the needle in determining your suitability as a candidate since it happened a while back. 

Alternatively, if you still have space left after including your recent professional, educational and extracurricular achievements, and you strongly believe the internship company / high school is renowned enough to further boost your profile or spur a story / commonality with your prospective interviewers, you may include it.
