BCG X Data Science "Technical" Case

Hi All,

I'm interviewing for a Data Science Internship at BCG X, and one of the interviews is a "Technical Case Interview". My understanding is that it will be more model/ML oriented in terms of solving the business problem, but unfortunately I'm unable to find any such Q/A resources online.

Does anyone have suggestions/knowledge about such interviews? It would be a big help!

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

Congrats on getting a DS interview with BCG! Technical case interview is a relatively recent idea as expert consulting started to boom in the past decade. Hence why there aren't a lot of material off-the-shelf.

From my experience conducting such interviews and being an candidate myself, it is a case interview combined with DS-specific questions. The goal is to evaluate whether the candidate can solve a business case using technical skills. Your interviewer will also be an expert consulting person who knows both the business and technical concepts well.

Feel free to reach out if any further questions, or you'd like a mock interview of such!

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the invitation from BCG X!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, I would highly advise you to contact the recruiter and/or new consultants to be sure.
  • Moreover, considering that you applied to BCG X, I would expect the technical interview to focus on the type of work they do. So I would advise you to do some research on that.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming BCG X interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hey there,

I've seen some technical cases, and what they have that is different from "traditional" cases is focus on "technical" processes and approaches of data management, ways to code and represent the data etc.

A lot of aspects are still similar to a standard case interview, but there is a technical expertise section that is designed for people with the technical background applying for "technical" roles

I have an upcoming first round interview at BCG for entry level Associate. This is my first time interviewing at a big company and feel quite nervous. Over the week I have done a few cases by myself and one live case with a friend. Any tips on how to ace this?
