BCG PIPE - DACH

Hi everyone,

I am interested in understanding the interview process for senior associate role in DACH region for PIPE. Do you have an idea on the type of interviews that are performed, how many rounds and if there is also a test? (E.g., More focus on Cass studies or on personal fit?)

Thank you

Hi there,

the interview process for BCG irrespective of experienced hire vs. straight out of university is the same.

Usually this will consist of a first round with aptitude test and one interview and a second round with two interviews (if you pass the second round). In case of experienced hires for a specific practice area, you might get more interviewers from that respective function / industry.

Split of interviews in personal fit and case is the same (roughly 50:50). Be prepared for more commercial due diligence like cases (i.e., understanding the business model, sizing revenue and profitability outside-in, thinking about value creation levers etc.).

Happy to chat.

Best,
Sebastian

Hi there,

The interviews would be the same as general consultant interviews, and would cover both case and fit.

Hi there,

After CV screening, you’ll be asked to do a test (BCG is using more than one, it will depend on your region), followed by 2 to 3 rounds of interviews, each one with two different interviews that will cover the case (around 30min) plus behavioral interview (around 20min). The theme may be more specific for case interview, so be prepared.
If you need professional guidance in crafting a strong resume or preparing for the interviews, I’ll be happy to assist you. Just dm for a free alignment call!

There is no difference vs. other type of BCG interview process in DACH.

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your questions:

  • First of all, the interview process will most likely be the same as for any other graduate or junior position at BCG.
  • Moreover, I would advise you to just wait for the recruiter to explain the process in detail, which they will do anyway.
  • Lastly, I would highly advise you to start preparing both the case study and personal fit parts right away, especially considering that you do not seem to have much transparency about the application process.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming BCG pre-interview assessment and/or interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

There is very little difference compared to generalist interviews.

For DACH:

  • Cognitive Test
  • 2 Interview rounds with 2-3 interviews each (usually all with case and fit part)
  • Cases are a bit more focused on PIPE, but not all of them
  • Skills, evaluation, etc. are the same

Cheers,

Florian

Hey there 😊,

Great that you’re targeting BCG PIPE (Principal Investors & Private Equity) in DACH—it’s a competitive but exciting track! Here’s a quick overview of what to expect for the Senior Associate role:

🎯 Interview Process

Online Assessment: Often starts with the Casey / HireQuotient-style test (quant + logic, timed)
Round 1: Typically 2 interviews → each includes a case + fit questions (with a possible PE/DD angle)
Round 2: Another 2 interviews, usually with more senior folks and slightly deeper on PE-specific frameworks or fast-paced cases

🧠 Focus Areas

– Strong emphasis on case performance, especially with a due diligence, market sizing, or investment angle
Personal fit matters, but it’s more about clarity, sharp communication, and structured thinking than warmth or storytelling

Let me know if you want to practice PE-style cases or simulate the test—I'd be happy to support you 😊

Best,
Alessa 😇
