I applied to the BCG ME office two months ago, but I haven’t received any updates on my application yet. What should I do? I’d also like to buy more time to practice, but I want to ensure my follow-up doesn’t lead them to say the application window has already closed.
BCG Application
Hi there,
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:
- First of all, I would highly advise you to reach out to the recruiting department directly. After waiting for two full months, a polite inquiry about your application status is certainly in order.
- Moreover, however, most offices in the Middle East typically hire on a rolling basis. And even if there was an interview deadline that you missed in your specific case, there is no point in avoiding the situation as it is.
- Lastly, I wonder why you need more time to prepare. While I'm not saying that two months is always enough to be thoroughly prepared, especially if you're working full-time, I would advise you to consider working with an experienced coach like me to get the acceleration and quality in your preparation that you seem to need.
You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming BCG pre-interview assessment and/or interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,
Hagen
Hey there,
I'd follow up professionally with the recruiting team to ask about the status of your application since it's been two months already.
Regarding time to practice, I'd definitely be practicing now in the interim prior to getting feedback, and also if all goes well when recruiting gets back to you, I'd try not to set an interview date too soon based on where you'd be in your preparation journey. (This is something I've seen many candidates get wrong... i.e. setting interview dates too soon relative to their readiness and then scrambling to try and get up to speed in time for the interview)
Also, there's really no application window. MBB Recruiting hire on an ongoing basis, and even if you did miss a batch, you'll roll over to the next
All the best
After two months, I would say it's more likely than not that they won't move forward with your application at this time. I would check in with the team on the first or second week of January but would spend more time/energy on lining up other options. That includes taking a hard look at your resume/CV to ensure you're telling a compelling story about yourself. Let me know if I can help there!
