Bain Application - Consultant or Senior Manager

Hi All,

I am currently in the process of preparing my application to Bain UAE in the Management Consulting space.

I am a strategy and transformation professional with over 10 years of experience in management and digital consulting. I currently work for a large Group company as a Strategy & Transformation Manager, and previously I have spent 7 years in the consulting space with a Tier 2 firm.

I am confused as to whether I should apply for a Senior Manager or Consultant role in Bain, keeping in mind that SM's are expected to have a minimum of 7-years work exp (which I qualify for). I am a bit apprehensive of aiming too high and lower my probability of success.

Appreciate any feedback or suggestions on the same.

Thanks,

Hello,

Apply for SM. If they like your profile they will decide which position fits you and invite you to interviews accordingly.

Best of luck!

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, from an outside-in perspective, I would advise you to either apply as a Manager or Senior Manager.
  • Moreover, when in doubt, I would highly advise you to just apply for the higher role and wait for the outcome. If they like your profile but feel you don't meet the requirements, they will tell you that and offer you to continue the application in a lower role.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming Bain pre-interview assessment and interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

I would definitely apply for the Manager role with your background.

This would also be an excellent discussion starter for networking with HR and current consultants btw. :-)

Cheers,

Definitely not the consultant role. I would consider between the Manager and the Senior Manager role.
