What are the main differences in terms of corporate culture and career outlook? Any advice on which firm to prioritize?
JPM vs Morgan Stanley

I haven’t worked at either firm myself, but from what I’ve heard from colleagues and candidates I have coached, J.P. Morgan feels a bit more structured and stable, given its universal banking model. There’s a strong hierarchy, but also more long-term career flexibility across different divisions.
Morgan Stanley, on the other hand, has a more traditional investment banking vibe, leaner teams, intense deal flow, and arguably stronger buy-side exits in certain groups. Some describe it as a bit more high-touch and entrepreneurial.
Which to prioritize depends on your goals. If you want broader career options and stability, J.P. Morgan might be the way to go. If you’re focused on IB and exits, Morgan Stanley could be it. Either way, both companies are great to start your career in IB, and in the end it also depends on the team you are in and the people you work with.
I wish you much success and let me know if you have any further questions.
