When to follow up after a networking call

Hello everyone,

To keep things simple, i had a few networking call with employees in the firms I am targeting, most have told me to send them my CV, or they told me the will tell HR about our conversation. Around 2-3 weeks have passed and I havent heared anything yet. Do you have any tips on when and how to re-contact them?

Hey,

It’s completely reasonable to follow up after 2-3 weeks, especially since they expressed interest in your CV or mentioned speaking with HR. A follow-up shows your professionalism and genuine enthusiasm for the role.

When reaching out, keep your message polite and concise. Thank them again for their time during your previous conversation, mention that you’re checking in for any updates, and reiterate your interest in the role or company.

A follow-up like this reminds them of your conversation and keeps you on their radar without coming across as pushy.

Let me know if you need any further help!

Best,
Evelina

Hey!

It’s totally fine to follow up after 2-3 weeks if you haven’t heard back. Keep it short and polite—thank them again for their time, express your continued interest, and ask if there are any updates or next steps you should be aware of. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions!

Hi there!

One of these things might have happened: (1) they forgot to forward your CV; (2) they have forwarded, but HR has not seen it yet: (3) HR has seen but will not reach out to you; (4) HR has seen but has not reached out yet.

I suggest you to follow up and kindly ask if they could share the HR representative’s contact - so you can directly talk to them. This way you mitigate (1), accelerate (2) and is able to address any issue that may lead to (3), e.g.:  CV is not in the proper consultant format or has felt in one of the existing key-words filters.
Good luck!

Mari

Hey there,

Yes, the time frame you’ve stipulated is more than reasonable to follow up. Show courteousness, and a professional follow up on next steps based of previous meeting

All the best

Hey,

2-3 weeks is a reasonable timeframe to follow up. Remember: it's you who needs the job, not them. Therefore, you need to always be proactive regarding those things.

Good luck!
Nick
