What type of cases do I need to prepare

Hi all,

I'm currently preparing for the case study for the Senior Consultant, Enterprise Solutions role at BCG. I believe there are two rounds of case interviews. Could you please give me some suggestions for preparation? I have a lot of case resources. Do I need to focus on IT-related cases, or should I practice all types of cases? Thank you for your help.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the invitation from BCG!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, looking at the job description will certainly help you understand your future responsibilities (which you should already know before applying) and therefore the types of case studies you are likely to have.
  • Moreover, it's still beneficial to be well-rounded, so you shouldn't exclusively focus on IT-related cases.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

While the interviews for this role likely come with more IT-heavy cases, your interviewers are more interested in your

  • problem-solving
  • analytics
  • communication skills.

Hence, the question is not “what cases you should prepare” but “what are the right skills to learn and how.”

You want to build the skillset needed for a consultant already before the interviews to get the chance of an offer.

Cheers,

Florian

I believe that is a technical role. If that is the case, you should be focusing on IT-related cases - but be aware that questions aren't just technical but also assess your business sense (i.e. how your decisions impact business and how strategic decisions may impact IT solutions).
