I am currently in my final year doing anesthesia and intensive care but i want to my masters in international management , but i want to know what are the job opportunities for such field of study and how important is it to the society . thank you

Hi Isaac,
I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:
- First of all, international management is the practice of managing business operations on an international basis. As such, it is very similar to management, yet with a more global focus.
- Moreover, as with most business degrees, you will have the opportunity to apply to a variety of roles across main corporate functions, such as finance, marketing, and human resources, as well as in professional services, such as strategy consulting.
- Lastly, regarding the importance of international management as a discipline for society, while it is certainly not as critical as your current studies, it is an essential driver to facilitate global trade and investment, and promote economic growth on an international basis.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on this topic, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,
Hagen

Hi Isaac,
Q: I want to do my masters in international management, but i want to know what are the job opportunities for such field of study and how important is it to the society
Opportunities are pretty broad and range from strategy consulting to F500. It depends a lot on the brand of the university as well.
With some exits you can definitely have a strong impact on society. I would recommend though to start with what you would be interested in and check if the master can give options there. To do so you can do the following for the different master options you are considering:
- Look for alumni of the masters on LinkedIn
- Check how many moved to your preferred exits in your target region
- Normalize for the size of the cohort of the master
Hope this helps,
Francesco

Hi Isaac,
International management is essentially the management of organizations and business operations across national borders. This field focuses on understanding diverse cultures, legal systems, and business practices to effectively navigate global markets and manage multinational teams.
Some job opportunities here include:
- International Business Consultant: Advise businesses on strategies to enter new markets, navigate complex regulations, and adapt products or services for global consumers.
- Global Marketing Manager: Develop and implement marketing campaigns for multinational organizations.
- International Human Resources Manager: Oversee recruitment, training, and talent management for global organizations
- International Sales Manager: Lead sales teams to expand business operations across borders and manage client relationships in diverse markets.
- Supply Chain Manager: Optimize global supply chain networks, manage logistics, and coordinate with suppliers and distributors in various countries.
- International Trade Specialist: Support import/export activities, ensure compliance with trade regulations, and develop strategies to enhance cross-border trade.
International management quite important to society! (As long as you view society as globalized). Essentially, you're helping organizations effectively conduct business on a global scale. International managers play a crucial role in promoting cultural understanding, facilitating collaboration among diverse teams, and addressing global challenges such as climate change and poverty.
But, please go into this with eyes wide open. Business is business. You can easily walk a path here that is “negative” (say, working for the oil majors) or “positive” (say, working for an international body like the UN or World Bank…though some might say this is negative as well given their beauracracy).
I highly recommend you:
- Invest in a career coach…make sure this path is right for you
- Network, network, network. Find others who are similar to you and studied international management. Then…talk to them!
Good luck to you Isaac!

Hi Isaac,
That's a good question to ask if you're considering the program.
As a first point of insight, I'd suggest you check out the guide / booklet that is usually provided by the department that hosts that course. They tend to provide a clear indication (sometimes even in percentages) of where the graduates went on to work or serve.
From my understanding, a Masters in International Management is basically a Masters in Management but with a strong international component, so it aims to give you a global understanding of markets as well as some of the main players across each industry.
Consulting is definitely a go-to profession if you graduate from this sort of course. If you want to learn more about consulting and what you can expect from working there, I'd recommend two short guides that you can read:

Hi there,
it really depends on the university you are applying to. The content of international management programs at different universities can vary substantially. Given you already are about to finish a program & in case you have working experience you could think about joining a MBA program. They are designed to support talents to move careers into business.
Andreas

The opportunities that you have from this degree will vary a lot by which university it is, and exactly what the course covers. I suggest looking up alumni of the programme on linkedin and see what type of work they are doing.
Good luck!

It's similar to a degree in management, but with stronger focus on international business and trade
