How Long Does It Take Bain To Respond to Application

Experienced Hire. Applied to Bain without a referral for a General Consultant position in early October. Haven't heard back from them at the moment. I applied for an Expert Consultant position as well but was rejected for it within a week. Currently interviewing at another MBB so I believe that should have made it pass the sniff test at Bain to interview. Is there a chance they still reach out to me to interview? From a culture perspective, Bain seems like a great fit from those I've chatted with. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Do you have a contact in the recruiting team? Did you network with any consultants in your target office? I’d encourage you to check in and express continued interest.

Applying without those connections (or a referral) makes it more likely you’ll fall through the cracks, but your traction at other firms is a great sign.

Hope you hear good news soon!

I would recommend reaching out to your connects for a referral instead of waiting for Bain to come back. In fact even if you don’t have a tangible connection, I would encourage you to use LinkedIn and reach out to Partners from your relevant field expressing your interest and explaining your fit. This is exactly how I landed my Bain interview! :)

Hi there,

Q: Is there a chance they still reach out to me to interview?

Until they send a formal rejection, it is still possible that they will invite you for interviews. Having said that, considering one month has passed and you are in the process with another MBB, it is totally fine to follow up with HR and ask for feedback so that you can get an update earlier.

Good luck!
