Hi. I am hoping that you can give me a hand in preparing my admission to MBB when you can spare time. Every little helps indeed. I have a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in Myanmar and Insead MBA on the way. As a dentist, I have a professional experience as a dentist over 3 years. In addition, I have opened the second phone sale shop with my friend since 2021 and it is still running, so I can say I have got a sale experience to some extent as well. Not least, I have studied teaching and I have got a diploma in TESOL ( Teaching English to Speaker of Other languages as well). I have been a freelance English teacher for 4 years and I have run a private online English school since 2022 and I have been teaching English as a side job since then to earn extra money apart from my professional income. I am a government officer at the moment and when I first entered my current position, there was no one in my department and I grew and built it on my own and I have seen and treated over thousands of patients within 3 years. As a teacher, I have been teaching more than a thousand students with charge and volunteerly. My IELTS score is overall 8. I can speak 4 languages, my mother language, Myanmar, English, French and a little Spanish. For the future career, I am thinking of getting into the consulting. As a dentist, I have been consulting with a myriad of people, patients, their family members, colleagues and also some medical and dental companies. My profession used to be diagnosing and treating the problem, so it is quite similar to the consulting job. Therefore, I am thinking of implementing my consulting skills to my new career and to be honest, I am a good talker and I adore consulting. I think I can bear all the stress and pressure getting from the job. I am currently in France and thinking of staying in EU. I was wondering if my CV was good enough to get offered from MBB and most importantly visa sponsorship. What should I add to strengthen my CV? Thanks in advance.
Visa sponsorship after post INSEAD MBA
Hi there!
Your extensive and diverse experience can definitely track with a consulting career. Ultimately, your success in consulting job applications comes down to:
1) Your ability to demonstrate that your past experiences have prepared you for a life of diagnosis and problem-solving — and especially with dealing with diverse problems and challenging circumstances and handling that pressure well (which you have done well!)
2) Your ability to adapt to dynamic situations and still find a way out (which, apart from your professional experience, your lived experience as a foreign student and immigrant also exhibits, so tap into that as well!)
3) Your ability to show that you have previously found yourself in challenging circumstances and then created a demonstrable improvement in them (for e.g., have you ever worked in a difficult, underperforming clinic or office, implemented changes to the office's functioning and thereby caused a quantifiable improvement in performance?)
I'm not sure about the EU visa situation, but if you're open to relocating, you should also consider the Middle East (particularly, Dubai), where there is a very large cohort of INSEAD MBA grads working as consultants. I would definitely suggest that you get in touch with INSEAD alumni over LinkedIn or through INSEAD career resources on campus. Your professional background could potentially make you a good fit for healthcare consulting projects in the Middle East, so you should definitely speak with leaders of healthcare practices.
And of course, if you'd like help with your resume and/or cover letter, please feel free to reach out and I'll be more than happy to help.
All the very best!
Hi there,
In short, while you have a great resume and diverse experience, in the current climate I don't think it Europe would be a feasible option.
Firms hire much fewer people at the moment and visa sponsorship would be an extra effort that even during a strong hiring market most firms don't need to do since the local supply of candidates is always high. Also, local language proficiency is required for most offices except Nordics and sometimes the Netherlands.
I'd try to network with a few people and HR to see what can be done but also look for alternatives, e.g., the Middle East where non-local applicants are the standard.
All the best to you!
Cheers,
Florian
Hi there,
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your situation:
- First of all, your diverse background is impressive.
- Unfortunately, however, nobody can provide a serious answer to the question whether you will eventually receive a consulting offer and visa sponsorship, as there is so much more to that than an impressive background.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,
Hagen
You will have an Insead MBA. That doesn't guarantee an interview invite (but means you have a very good chance), and through networking while at school (and they'll explain you how that works), you should be able to improve your chances to get the interview (at least one of the MBB will likely interview you).
