Use of CFA for management consulting

Hi ,

I have one and a half years of experience in IT consulting in financial services domain after I completed my MBA. Would it help my profile if I have a cfa level 1 certification if I am trying to get into management consulting with domain expertise in financial services.

Hi,

Not really, for the following reasons:

  1. CFA is just a bullet point in your resume and definitely not a game-changer, even for FS-oriented firm
  2. MBA degree assumes that you know finance at least at the level of CFA1
  3. They may test your finance skills on the interview if it is critical, no matter what you put in a resume

I would take CFA1 if you feel that you miss these skills rather than just for your resume.
