Simon kucher interview process

Hi,

I've had a Simon Kucher third interview exactly two weeks ago and never heard back. Followed up after a week, the HR told me they were still evaluating other candidates.

This is my first interview process with a consulting firm. Should I consider myself 99% rejected? After all this time I need to understand if it is still worth to invest time in tailored preparation for a niche firm.

Thanks for every answer.

Hi there,

No, you shouldn't consider yourself rejected. Sometime firms take longer than usual to get back to candidates, most likely because of their own internal timelines or just getting all the interviews together to agree on a decision. Wait for a couple more days and then reach out to the recruiter to ask for an update.

Best,

Cristian

Hi,

Have no interviewed there yet, so cannot tell from my personal experience.
I heard that it is a rather fast process, so it seems a bit unusual, but maybe they are not that coordinated currently.
But I would not generalize it in terms of preparation for a niche consultancy! You should always prepare well and your chances are not significantly lower or higher in a niche company (my personal impression).

However, may I ask how you perceived the interview and what challenges you had?

They are really friendly and conversational in the fit part. No behavioural questions and maximum 4 fit questions. One market sizing, one brain teaser, one really simple numerical case with subsequent brainstorming and qualitative solution, one open end profitability case. I think the evaluate how "clean" your reasoning process toward the solution is. It is difficult to get stuck, except for brainteaser. It is important to show interest in Simon & Kucher in every step. After every step (from application to third interview) I received feedback in a time span between 30 minutes and 10 days.

Hi, I recommend texting/calling HR without worrying about bothering them. They are there to help.
And no, it's not a clear sign of rejection (in this case a quick email would have been sent)

Best,

Hi there,

the timelines are hardly met, particularly if you are off-organized-wave recruit. The delay is usually given that all people that interviewed you must submit their feedback and this can take long as everyone's agenda is extremely packed. So delay doesn't mean anything bad, it is just an organizational thing. Still, I would strongly recommend reaching out to HR and asking for an update and a new timeline.

Good luck

Lucie

Hi there,

You should always invest time in preparation for other firms.

You should have done this in round 1 interviews with SK and you should have done this the day after your 3rd interview.

Never put all your eggs in one basket.

Yes, apply to other firms and prepare for interviews with other firms!
