Hey guys I’m a senior at a target school (undergrad) and I want to apply this upcoming summer for full time associate positions a few months after I graduate. I was wondering if any of yall in here have used management consulted black belt and was it really helpful ? They state 80% of their students get into a consulting role but I would really want to get into an MBB or big 4. Also what is some advice for someone that figured out that wanted to do consulting fairly later in college ?
Senior at target school applying for full-time associate positions. Is Management Consulted Black Belt helpful? Seeking MBB/Big 4 advice for latecomers.
Hey there, senior year at a target school and aiming for consulting? That's awesome! Consulting can be a great path, and with your background, you're already on a good roll. Let's break down your path to success in consulting:
Management Consulted Black Belt (MCBB)
The MCBB program sounds intriguing, but there's no one-size-fits-all answer to success in consulting. While they claim 80% of their students land consulting roles, that doesn't guarantee an MBB position (McKinsey, Bain, BCG). Here’s how MCBB can help:
- Case Interview Prep Materials: Access resources to hone your case interview skills.
- Mock Interviews: Practice with realistic interview scenarios.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with industry professionals.
Targeting the MBB
If you're aiming for the MBB, MCBB is a good option, but there are other valuable resources too:
- Vault Guides: Comprehensive case interview prep materials.
- Case in Point: Essential case interview strategies and practice.
Late Bloomer? No Worries!
It’s never too late to jump on the consulting train. Here’s how to crush it even if you figured out consulting later:
- Network Like a Boss:
- Connect with alumni who are consultants.
- Attend industry events.
- Engage with consultants on LinkedIn to learn from the best.
- Case Prep Power Up:
- Sharpen your analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication with case prep resources and practice sessions.
- Don't Limit Yourself:
- While MBB firms are prestigious, there are many other great consulting firms.
- Consider boutique and mid-sized firms that might specialize in areas you love.
- Sell Your Transferable Skills:
- Highlight relevant skills from your classes or extracurriculars such as leadership, communication, and teamwork.
80% Placement Stat
Placement stats can be tricky. Many factors play into landing a job, and 80% might not be specific to MBB roles. Focus on:
- Building Your Skills: Continuously improve your consulting-related skills.
- Crafting a Strong Application: Present a compelling case for why you should be hired.
By leveraging these strategies and resources, you'll be well on your way to landing a consulting role. Good luck!

Can you please clarify which one is true?
Haven't had candidates that used that program.
If I were you, I'd reverse engineer it.
Speak with some people who have joined in the last year in your target office and role.
Ask them how they prepared, what made them successful, and how they wished they had approached the process differently.
That's going to give you a blueprint shortcut.
Otherwise, you're going to get a bit drowned in the information that is already out there.
