Online Assessments Dubai

Can anyone share the different online assessments used by every MBB and Tier 2 firms for summer undergrad internships in Dubai.

I feel every firm uses a different one and I’m very confused on how to prepare for each one. Any advice?

Hi there

  • McKinsey: Solve Game
  • BCG: Online Case
  • Bain: SOVA assessment or TestGorilla (varies from intake to intake)
  • Tier-2 firms: Usually a mix of logical, verbal, and quantitative reasoning - similar to SOVA, SHL, or even GMAT-style questions

Best of luck with your prep,

Hi there,

Q: Can anyone share the different online assessments used by every MBB and Tier 2 firms for summer undergrad internships in Dubai.

You can find below some information for MBB:

  • McKinsey is using the Solve game
  • BCG is using the Online Case (Chatbot).
  • Bain is using globally a variety of tests and they often switch between them, thus I would wait for the confirmation email to prepare (the most common test they use at the moment is SOVA).

For McKinsey and BCG, you can find some prep material below (full disclosure, I am the author):

▶ McKinsey Solve Game Combo Guide

▶ BCG Chatbot Software Simulation

If you have any questions about the tests, please feel free to drop me a message, I will reply within 12 hours.

Good luck!

Hey there! Absolutely — the confusion is real! Each firm seems to have its own platform, format, and style, especially for undergrad summer internships in Dubai/Middle East. Here's a clear breakdown of what to expect across MBB + Tier 2 firms, plus prep advice:

MBB – Online Assessments (Dubai, undergrad internships)

McKinsey

  • Assessment Name: Solve Game (formerly Problem Solving Game)
  • Platform: Imbellus (now part of BCG Gamma)
  • Format: Interactive, gamified tasks — e.g. ecosystem building, disease control, resource management
  • Skills tested: Logical reasoning, systems thinking, pattern recognition
  • Prep tips:
    • No traditional “study material,” but you can find practice breakdowns online (Reddit, PrepLounge)
    • Think critically and plan before clicking — time management matters more than speed

BCG

  • Assessment Name: Online Case Experience or BCG Potential Test
  • Platform: SHL, Pymetrics, or HireVue depending on the cycle
  • Format:
    • Multiple-choice business case questions (math-heavy)
    • Sometimes logic-based games (e.g., numerical reasoning, memory, attention)
  • Prep tips:
    • Practice with GMAT-style problem solving + mental math
    • Try free SHL practice tests
    • Look into Pymetrics games if they mention them in your invite

Bain & Company

  • Assessment Name: Bain Online Test / SOVA
  • Format:
    • 2–3 sections: numerical reasoning, business scenario logic, and sometimes a video interview (HireVue-style)
  • Prep tips:
    • SOVA practice tests available online
    • Business cases are straightforward — look for logic and structure, not trick questions

Tier 2 Firms – Online Assessments (Dubai/Middle East)

Strategy& (PwC)

  • Assessment: PwC Assessment (Game-based or numerical tests)
  • Format:
    • Numerical reasoning and logic puzzles
    • Personality/behavioral profiling
  • Prep: SHL-style tests + practice PwC Games (like Arctic Shores)

Roland Berger

  • Assessment: Analytical Test (may be math-based + case-style)
  • Prep: Practice case frameworks, GMAT quant, and logic puzzles

Oliver Wyman

  • Assessment: Online Case or Numerical Test
  • Format: Timed case simulation or math test + possible video questions
  • Prep: Case math, reading graphs/charts quickly, think MECE

🧠 General Prep Advice

  • Practice mental math and reading charts (tables, bar graphs, etc.)
  • Sites like:
  • Check Reddit, PrepLounge, and WallStreetOasis for recent experiences — these tests evolve fast.
