Offices currently hiring for a Senior Associate (July 2024)

Hi all,

I am a French experienced professional (with experience outside strategy consulting) and I am trying to join a strategy consulting firm as a Senior Associate. However, recruitment in Paris is still low.

What are the regions, cities or offices in which strategy consulting firms are actively hiring?

Since recruitments trends have such a huge impact on applications, I will direct my research towards the places that will be hiring and that will be compatible with my own aspirations and language skills.

Thanks a lot

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your situation:

  • First of all, since it sounds like you haven't done this yet, have you actually talked to the recruiters at the French offices about the hiring situation, as only they know for certain? Besides the fact that there is hiring happening in France.
  • Moreover, and contrary to what other coaches have said, applying to London and Dubai would not be a great idea, as there is virtually no hiring happening at the moment. On the contrary, I would highly advise you to consider the Netherlands, Belgium (where you would even benefit from your knowledge of French), the Nordic countries, and Switzerland (especially the Geneva office, where you would also benefit from your knowledge of French).

If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi!

I would suggest you to try the London and Dubai offices. These offices are usually the main international offices (i.e., offices that recruit a large share of candidates that are not originally from that country) for most strategy consulting firms. I am excluding the US here due to visa complications.

Applying to any other region will be hard for you, with few exceptions 1) you have a native-level proficiency in another language besides english and french, 2) you have strong ties to a certain region (e.g., you worked for the last 5 years in a certain region). This is because international consulting firms prefer to recruit candidates for their relative local offices (or one of the international hubs, such as London and Dubai) first.

I hope this helps!

Hi there,

The only area where you really have a chance as a non-local currently is the Middle East, particularly Saudi or Qatar.

While recruiting is down in the Middle East compared to the last couple of years, they are still hiring exceptional candidates so you could aim for that (including the full best practice application strategies with networking, referrals, etc…)

All the best,

Florian

Another French (+English) speaking office, at least for BCG is Casablanca. A while ago there were active transfers opportunities from London office to Casablanca - but something to check if they are still actively recruiting.

Good luck,

It's not very strong in other regions anyway. To be honest, Paris is still where you have the biggest chance.
