No feedback after Bain Sova

Hey everyone, I completed the Bain Sova for ME office test in mid november and still haven't heard back with either a positive or negative answer, I contacted recruitment lead for experienced hires by email 2 weeks ago and still no answer, should I take it as a rejection or is it normal?

Hey there,

General rule: Until you've been notified that you've been rejected, don't take it as a rejection. Always best to avoid speculation.

That said, good job on being proactive and following up. It's really frustrating when consulting firms and companies take time to give feedback, especially from mid-November! But also wanted to say that it's not uncommon for firms to take longer than we'd like to give feedback and responses.

I'd encourage you to keep on following up (every two weeks) - but also would be great to try other consulting firms in the mean time. Try leverage any networks or connections you have in Bain too to follow up with recruiting in addition to your efforts too

All the best!

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the progress in the application process with Bain thus far!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, until you have received a rejection e-mail, I would advise you not to assume that you have.
  • Moreover, while it's certainly not the norm, I know of several candidates for Dubai offices at different consulting firms who have been waiting for more than a month. But in the end, it doesn't really matter whether this is normal or not, as you just have to accept the current situation.
  • Lastly, if you haven't already done so, I would highly advise you to apply to other consulting firms to maximize your chances of getting at least one offer in the end.

You can find more on this topic here: How to deal with a rejection from a consulting company.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

It’s definitely frustrating to wait this long without feedback, but it’s not uncommon for consulting firms to take their time, especially for experienced hire processes. Given that you reached out two weeks ago with no response, it might be worth sending a polite follow-up email or reaching out via LinkedIn. However, if you don't hear back soon, it could indicate a rejection, as firms often prioritize candidates moving forward in the process. Don't hesitate to explore other opportunities in the meantime. Let me know if you need any advice—happy to help!

Hi there,

It's not a rejection until they sent the official email. At the moment, hiring in the region is extremely slow unfortunately.

Fingers crossed,

Florian

Assume both.

Keep case prepping - you should always prep as if you have an interview.

However, no answer for 2+ months is almost certainly a rejection.

As always, apply to LOTS of firms.

Also, remember most people recruit sub-optimally. Did you network a ton? did you have an optimal resume? Reflect on this and see if coaching makes sense next time aroudn (and for the other firms).
