Hi all, I managed to secure a strong referral for McK. Target school with good CV. My referee informed me that on his referral platform, my application status went from ‘Pending Review’ to ‘Pre-stage’. I have not heard back for an interview yet but had completed the SOLVE assessment previously. Anyone can give some insight on what a ‘Pre-stage’ status really mean in terms of the application process?
McKinsey Referral Application
Hi there,
I believe it indicates that they are waiting to send out the next steps. If you have done the Solve within the last 12 months, they might use that result. If not, you would need to take it again!
All the best!
Cheers,
Florian
Hi there,
My interpretation of that would be that your application is currently under review! Nothing to worry about, I expect you'll hear back soon. Could be worth asking your referee to ask the recruiting team for you, but I'm not sure how valuable an update would be.
Totally normal to feel impatient about these applications but sit tight! Best of luck.

Hey!
Congrats first of all :)
It's a positive sign that you’ve moved past "Pending Review," but it also indicates that McKinsey is still making decisions regarding the next steps in the process. If you don’t hear back within ~2 weeks, it might be helpful to follow up with your contact or the HR team for an update!
Good Luck!
