McKinsey PSG game results

Hi there,

Q: Does anyone know how long does it take to get the results of the McKinsey PSG game after you complete it?

Usually they let you know within 2 weeks of the test but I also helped a few candidates that heard back after 1 month or more.

The response time is not necessarily correlated with the performance (I helped candidates who waited almost two months and passed).

• First of all, you should hear back from McKinsey about the next steps in the application process within two weeks. However, please keep in mind that lead times in strategy consulting application processes currently fluctuate quite a bit.
• Moreover, I would highly advise you not to succumb to the fallacy of believing that the speed of feedback is related to your performance in any step of the application process.

The timeline for receiving results after completing the McKinsey Problem Solving Game (PSG) can vary, but typically it takes about 1-2 weeks to receive a response.

McKinsey usually gets back within a few days. Do note that nowadays, given the very tight hiring situation and their back office restructuring, the firm tends to take more time before they get back, at least from my experience. 

That said, as Ian mentioned, do make sure you're ramping up on casing ahead of time to avoid unnecessary time pressure.

It really depends on the office and at what point in the hiring cycle you completed the game. I would expect that you would need to wait 1-3 weeks to get a response.

Usually a couple of weeks! If it's been over 3 weeks and you're still waiting, you should feel free to reach out to HR and politely ask about the status of your application. But, as others here have pointed out, remember that wait time is not correlated with performance at all!
