Is it possible that a coach from other country do it instead of me ?
He have done it earlier and passed and he will be using vpn ( i dunno why)and its worked with him no one noticed as he stats.

Hi there,

Q: I’ve been notified to do the McKinsey game test. Is it possible that a coach from another country does it instead of me?

This is not allowed by McKinsey. If you do so, you will do it at your own risk that they find it out.

If you want to play it safe and do the test on your own, you can find an article on the game below with a few tips:

 McKinsey Problem Solving Game Article

If you want to prepare further, you can find below a video simulation with:

  • 15 videos showing how to crack the Ecosystem Game in 23 minutes (instead of the recommended 35) and resist 25+ turns in the Plant Defense (instead of the minimum target of 15)
  • Automated Excel with Formulas to build a food chain in the Ecosystem game in 16 minutes
  • PDF guide with all 6 games and how to crack each of them

You can check the video simulation at the following link (full disclosure, I am the author) :

In case you have any other questions on the game please feel free to PM me, happy to help.

Best,

Francesco

Hey there,

I have actually seen online offers for exactly that service.

I would not recommend it for three reasons:

  1. It is very risky because if they find out you will likely receive a lifetime ban
  2. The coach you hire could also fail the games
  3. It is not ethical and if you manage to get in you will always feel like a cheater

Rather get one of the guides out there, prepare for it and then do it yourself. The games are not rocket science when working with a good instruction manual.

Cheers,

Florian

Hi,

two things in my mind in addition to what is said already.

1. Such a conduct is disgusting. Stealing the chance of potentially better candidate is called corruption which is totally perpendicular to McKinsey values. The Firm explicitly says in its policies one is highly encouraged to raise a concern about the facts of bad conduct.
So, if you can’t pass this game, then you’re not McKinsey material and should not be there. Once you caught, your reputation is forever down, your career and education are ruined having no more trust.

2. How do you know this game is the toughest for you before you ever tried it? This is only you minding this. If you are that scared of a game (come on, it’s just game!) recruit a coach, train yourself with online simulators that are available. This is not a cheating, this is smart playing by the rules. And the cost is significantly lower than lost reputation.

Hi there,

If caught, this would result in a lifetime ban. Additionally, if you can't pass the game, you shouldn't be at McKinsey. Are you going to be able to hire a coach to do your work for you? These tests exist for a reason.

There are some awesome guides out there - use those and learn! (That's what you'll have to do at McKinsey!)
