McKinsey Game Results

I got this email after completing McKinsey's assessment. We regret to inform you that we are not able to move forward now, but if that changes, we will contact you before the end of the year. Is this a rejection or freezing in recruitment? Has anyone been contacted by the firm after receiving this email?

Hello,

It looks like a freezing in recruitment. So you may have passed the test but there are no openings now.

I would reach out to recruitment team to clarify this and follow up with them again towards the end of the year.

Best of luck!

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear that. It sounds like a freeze on their end. Otherwise they wouldn't have mentioned the situation being potentially subject to change before the end of the year. If you had formally gotten rejected, they wouldn't have told you that they might contact you again.

So it is unfortunate but not within your control. You need to apply broadly to many firms to increase your chances of landing an offer.

Best of luck

Hmm, given the wording it feels more like a freezing. Otherwise they would not have the “if that changes, we will contact you before the end of the year” part.

Hi there,

Unfortunately, this is quite common these days. Factors that influence it

  • Resume
  • Game performance
  • Referrals
  • Current hiring market

Don't let it get to you though! You can still apply to other firms or re-try McKinsey next year!

Cheers,

Florian
