I got shortlisted for the interview stage for the McKinsey Digital Summer Internship in London. May I know if anyone has practice cases specifically for the digital role? I would also like to find out if there is anything different to the normal case interview process that I should expect. Thank you!
McKinsey Digital Summer Internship

Hey there,
I've helped many candidates get into Digital positions at McKinsey, and more so in the London office and for internship positions too!
Typically there are no differences in cases for McKinsey Digital and normal cases. However, for McKinsey's Quantum Black and expert digital roles, yes - there are specific digital expertise cases for those.
So for you, I recommend you make sure you are comfortable with the traditional (normal) cases as this is what you are most likely to get for the digital internship.
Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or need help on anything related to preparing to ace the interviews
All the best

Hey!
Congrats on getting shortlisted for the McKinsey Digital Summer Internship in London! That’s an exciting opportunity. While it’s great to look into some digital-focused cases to get familiar with topics like digital transformation, AI, and data-driven strategies, the core interview process usually follows the standard case interview format. So, make sure to also focus on practicing traditional case frameworks, structuring your thoughts clearly, and refining your problem-solving skills.
If you need any help with preparation, feel free to reach out—happy to support as a former McKinsey interviewer. Best of luck!

Hi there,
McKinsey Digital is definitely different. Depending on your level, you should expect a certain level of brainstorming over cases (i.e. sets of questions designed to test your thinking on topics, not necessarily a start-end case). That said, you should also expect cases. How to prepare?
First, learn standard cases - the methodologies and skills you will learn here will be universally applicable.
Second, make sure you understand the digital world well. Some topics include (but are not limited to):
Cloud
Security (encryption basics, cloud security)
Agile
M&A and IT
Legacy systems, merging systems, system upgrades
Digital transformation
IoT
Third, focus on digital-based cases
These two that I've created should get you started, but I have heaps more :)

Fourth, use me :)
I implemented IT projects and built my digital experience for 4 years before joining BCG and working across a range of Digital/Tech projects. I've prepared countless candidates for McK Digital, BCG Platinion, BCG GAMMA, boutique tech consuting, etc. so more than happy to teach you all the tricks!
