Mckinsey application status

Hi,

Please let me know the relevance of Candidate's application status on Mckinsey portal.
I am done with all the mandatory rounds of interview, yet to hear from HR. HR is not picking up any calls for the same.
The application status on portal is : Submitted - In progress.

Hi there,

In progress means it is in progress. They have not made a decision yet.

You need to let them meet and discuss and make a decision and you need to give them space. If you spam them with calls the only thing you're doing is hurting your chances.

Hi there!

I understand that must be quite frustrating.

The application status doesn't help much at this point.

Basically, now you just need to sit and wait for the response from the interviews. They can take up to two weeks to get back to you. I waited for about 10 days and it felt like weeks.

Try to keep yourself busy in the meantime so the time flies by. Sharing with you a couple of guides on how to be an effective consultant in your first year as light reading:

Best,
Cristian

Hi,

At this stage the application status is only updated once a decision has been made and that decision has to be manually updated by HR into the system.

The reason you may not have heard back is most likely that a decision has probably not been made on your candidacy yet. As painful as it is, try and hang in there :)

Best,

Udayan

If they are going to give us an offer, would it still be “in progress” or “closed”?

In most instances you would know the outcome before the system updates to either status

Hi there,

Forget about the portal. The status won't change until after they called. Hope this happens soon, they're a bit slow these days…

Keeping me fingers crossed for you!

Cheers,
Moritz

It means they still have to decide on the next step…

“In progress” means it's standing in a pile. They haven't processed your application for that stage yet, but they are progressing through that pile :)
