Hi, I received offers from both firms to respective roles (in the middle east) and McK BA base salary is 12% higher (yearly bonus pretty similar for both). Also no signing bonus for both. Is that common? Is it like that in Europe and NA as well?
McK BA salary > BCG Associate salary? (Outside north america)
Hi there,
No, it differs from region to region.
In Central Europe, and not only, it's rather common for BCG to be paying more overall, but then the bonus to be slightly higher for McK. Over the long run however, these things even out, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Best,
Cristian
Hi there,
Generally that's about right but it really does depend on office, timing etc.
Ultimately, you've been sent the offers you've been sent…so work with that! Make sure to negotiate across both offers to see what you can push them towards! (i.e. try to get signing bonus, or additional retirement contributions, etc.)
Hey there,
Congrats on your offers!
Sounds pretty common in terms of the signing bonus. For other regions, I believe BCG is on par or sometimes even pays slightly more than McKinsey.
What offer will you accept?
Cheers,
Florian
Hello!
It depends on the geographies. In Spain for instance, the other way around for BAs.
Cheers,
Clara
Hi there,
For equivalent positions, McK tends to pay highest.
However, there's many exceptions to the rule and I'm not really sure what anyone would gain from having all that info - it's not really actionable in any way.
Anyways, congratulations for the offers and best of luck!
Surprising data point. In my experience BCG pays more among MBB's across most geographies even in Middle East.
It really depends. I’ve heard of many more locations in Europe and NA where BCG pay more than McKinsey.
