I have recieved an offer from Kearney Middle East (Dubai) office. I have a meeting scheduled with the HR team next week where I think they are going to discuss numbers. I wanted to get an understanding on what is a good number of expect interms of base salary, signing bonus and what is a good range for performance bonus. Also, is it possible to negotiate?
Kearney Middle East post MBA salary
Hi there,
Congratulations on the offer! In terms of your questions:
1) I wanted to get an understanding on what is a good number of expect interms of base salary, signing bonus and what is a good range for performance bonus.
You can check the following article for some reference points (please note data are from 2022):
▶ Top Consulting Salaries in the Middle East
2) Also, is it possible to negotiate?
Normally the base salary for a given position is fixed for everyone. What you can usually negotiate is:
- The signing bonus
- The relocation bonus
- The seniority you join
Best,
Francesco
Hi there,
First of all, congratulations on the offer from Kearney!
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your situation:
- First of all, it might be helpful to visit websites like Glassdoor for a rough understanding of the expected total compensation for your position at Kearney in the Middle East. This can give you a baseline for what others in similar positions are receiving.
- Moreover, while base salary and performance bonuses are typically standardized within companies and are generally non-negotiable, other elements of the compensation package often have more flexibility. For instance, compensation-related benefits and one-time bonuses, such as signing and relocation bonuses, can usually be negotiated.
You can find more on this topic here: Salaries in the consulting industry.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,

Hi there,
congratulations on the offer!
The base salary and the bonus range will be standardized based on the level you enter. Every other employee at the same office/country who is on that same level will get the same base salary and has the same bonus range. The actual bonus will likely differ between employees of course but the ceiling is the same. That said, you will in all likelihood not be successful in trying to negotiate any of that.
Some of the negotiable elements are
- your signing bonus (if applicable)
- a relocation bonus (in case you have to move)
- some form of contractual agreement that stipulates, for example, that you could live in a different city (other than the office location) but the firm would cover your travel expenses to and from the office should you be required to be there
As for the current compensation numbers, it's probably best to just do some online searches where those ranges are often published so you get a ballpark figure.

Hi there,
If you truly want an optimal outcome with negotiation, hire a coach! They'll help you make sure not a penny is left over (I personally doubled my signing bonus from $20k to $40k)
Feel free to message me as well - I have actual salary data from my candidates:
If you can, reach out to your network to put you in touch with actual consultants who are now in the office there.
They should be able to give you an accurate understanding.
Still, don't worry about negotiating the base. This will be fixed for your role level anyway.
Only try to find out if they offer a relocation bonus and a signing bonus and what the range is for those.
Congrats! And good luck!
Cristian
Congratulations on receiving an offer from Kearney Middle East! While I don't have specific information on the current salary ranges at Kearney Middle East, I can provide some general insights to help you navigate the discussion with the HR team:
Base salary: The base salary for post-MBA roles at consulting firms in the Middle East can vary depending on factors such as your level of experience, the firm's compensation structure, and the local market conditions. It's important to research industry benchmarks and consider your qualifications and the value you bring to the firm when discussing your base salary.
Signing bonus: Some consulting firms offer signing bonuses as a way to attract and incentivize top talent. The amount of the signing bonus can vary based on factors such as your level of experience, the firm's policies, and your negotiation skills. It's worth discussing the possibility of a signing bonus during your meeting with the HR team.
Performance bonus: Performance bonuses are typically tied to individual and firm performance metrics. The range for performance bonuses can vary based on your level, the firm's performance, and your individual contributions. It's important to have a clear understanding of the performance evaluation process and the factors that determine the bonus range.
Negotiation: It is possible to negotiate your compensation package, including base salary, signing bonus, and performance bonus. However, it's important to approach the negotiation process professionally and respectfully. Research industry benchmarks, highlight your qualifications and achievements, and make a compelling case for why you believe you deserve a higher compensation package. Keep in mind that negotiation outcomes can vary, and it's important to be prepared for different scenarios.
During your meeting with the HR team, I recommend discussing your expectations and asking for clarity on the compensation structure at Kearney Middle East. This will help you have a more informed discussion about your salary and bonus expectations.
