Economy Dips/Hiring in Western Europe

Hello, I have been reading much about the economy lately and how many people predict another recession may be sometime soon. Does anyone have insight into how this influences hiring, particularly regarding Western Europe and the DACH region? I am curious but also about to start applying for jobs in Austria and Germany and I wondered if the hiring surge of 2018 is still on-going or if it is slowing down. Also, if there is another recession is it normal then for the newest hires to be let-go or for their jobs to be less secure? Or just maybe everyone recieves less bonus if less work is coming in?

Ex-MBB, Experienced Hire; I will teach you not only the how, but also the why of case interviews

Even during recessions, consultancies will need new people coming in. Classes may be a little smaller, but most of the impact would be felt by consultants already in the firm: less staffing, harder promotions / longer cycles... and yes, smaller bonuses.

PS: You cannot control the economy, so don't focus on it too much.
