Does anyone know what’s going on with the MBB in Milan?

Their recruiting process is moving incredibly slow. I know people who got a positive feedback after the first round and they have been asked availability for the next round of interviews, but the HR has not given update in a month even after a follow-up or people asking about referred candidates from the inside.

Hey there!

The slowing down of the process may be due to end-of-year activities, with some teams already on vacation.

I don't have any insights into how IT offices are doing across consultancies, but another reason may be that the consulting business is slowing down—thus, the need for new hires may not be as urgent as in "high season."

I recommend you to keep following up with recruiting via mail or phone.

Hope it helps & all the best,

Maximiliane

Hey there,

There are a couple of factors now that are leading to delayed responses where you may see some candidates getting responses and others yet to get, these being: low availability of interviewers, holiday season, batching of responses, and managing quotas for start dates. (Obviously there are more reasons)

So for now, maybe another professional follow up can help, but given the time of the year - schedule this maybe for first or second week of January when most of the recruiting team come back

All the best

Probably better to discuss each firm individually, as what one does should not be perceived as the competitor doing the same things.

It's a frustrating situation... on the bright side, you crushed your first round!

That is unusual, but don't be discouraged yet! If it has been more than 1-2 weeks since your last follow-up email, write another polite note nudging them for an update. If you already reached out in the last week, wait until the first week of January to ping them again about landing that next round.

If you need some coaching before your next rounds, don't hesitate to contact me to discuss how I could help you maximize your chances of landing the offer.

Hi there,

If I understand you correctly, you are talking about the experiences of other candidates who are currently waiting for recruiters from different consulting firms to come back to them, and not about yourself. What is the reason for this?

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

How has it progressed since your message.

Milan - as with most other larger European offices of MBB - is hiring very cautiously since months as demand for 2025 is not entirely clear and they want to avoid an overhiring situation like during the pandemic.

Unfortunately, that means very long recruiting cycles and fewer successful outcomes.

Fingers crossed!

Florian
